Teaching Assistant

About the role

Sedgemoor Manor School are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team! We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed people, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support learning across all key stages.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the class teacher, assisting the pupils and young people with their work
• Supporting with pupil engagement and learning through establishing good relationships
• Becoming a trusted adult
• Implementing applicable strategies of the pupil education and health care plan

Requirements

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or carer would be beneficial, but not essential
• Communication skills and passion required for this role
• A willingness to learn and receive all the training and development needed to succeed

About You

• You will be a key member of our education support team, working as part of a specialist team of Teachers and Therapists to deliver a specialist curriculum that motivates and inspires our students.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or carer would be beneficial, but as long as you have the communication skills and passion required for this role and a willingness to learn, we will give you all the training and development you need to succeed.
• Whilst not essential, experience of supporting children with autism and complex needs would be an advantage.
• Successful candidates, through the support of IT resources, will contribute to the effective implementation of individual programs by supporting the teaching and learning, social and independence activities and experiences, which enhance the learning and development of children and young people.
• Being flexible in approach, emotionally available and resilient is an important characteristic for this role.
