About the role
The Student Counselor provides comprehensive counseling services to students, addressing their academic, personal, social, and career development needs. This role requires a skilled and compassionate individual who can create a supportive and confidential environment for students to explore their challenges and develop effective strategies for success.
Responsibilities
- Conducting counseling sessions for students.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and parents regarding student concerns and make referrals to appropriate resources, both on and off-campus.
- Develop and implement outreach programs and workshops to promote student well-being and prevent mental health issues.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling interventions.
- Create annual reports.
- Supervise and mentor junior psychologists.
- Plan the annual calendar.
- Plan and oversee workshops and events.
- Conduct workshops for students, faculty, and staff.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- BA/BSc in Psychology.
- 3-5 years’ experience in academic institutions as a psychologist (part-time role considered).
- Experience in providing counseling services to students in a higher education setting (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of student development theory and counseling techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
