About the Role

Provide quality instruction aligned to state and national standards. Use a variety of assessment strategies—diagnostic, formative, and summative—to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning. Engage students in rigorous, inquiry-based learning tasks that deepen content knowledge and foster habits of scholarship. May be required to work as a member of the campus STEM team to ensure quality integrated instruction across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements with a strong working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices.
  • Teach required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on student needs and abilities.
  • Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Create safe, respectful, and engaging learning environments that are multicultural, gender-fair, ability-inclusive, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with families to support educational decisions and leverage community resources.
  • Align instruction with the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school goals.
  • Assess instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP) and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, or job-embedded staff development.
  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Spanish; or proof of pending approved licensure.

Final appointment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD preferred.

Schedule

0.6 FTE (42 weeks per year, based on full-time equivalency with 1.0 being full time).

Pay

Salary range: $55,796 - $116,593.
