2026-2027 Middle School Spanish Teacher
The Opportunity
NCS is seeking teachers who are passionate about teaching middle school students and have strong content expertise in Spanish. Successful candidates will demonstrate a deep commitment to student achievement, possess a growth mindset, and actively seek and apply feedback to strengthen their instructional practice.
We are especially seeking educators who are comfortable with curriculum development and can independently build and implement a yearlong scope and sequence aligned to student learning goals and standards.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Building Relationships
- Collaborate with co-teachers to continuously improve classroom practices and support the overall goals and mission of the school
- Communicate and reinforce high expectations for behavior and academic performance aligned to Neighborhood Charter Schools’ culture and core values
- Cultivate a strong classroom community with students and families
Intellectual Preparation and Instructional Delivery
- Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging instruction to both large and small groups of students
- Design and adapt curriculum materials, unit plans, and lesson plans aligned to learning objectives and student needs
- Develop and implement a coherent yearlong scope and sequence for Spanish instruction
- Solicit, welcome, and incorporate feedback to improve instructional practice
- Reflect critically on teaching experiences and identify areas for continued professional growth
- Maintain a secure and effective learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and strong classroom management
Data Analysis, Assessment, and Grading
- Provide students with meaningful feedback and multiple opportunities to demonstrate mastery
- Measure student achievement and progress toward learning objectives using appropriate assessment tools
- Drive academic outcomes by analyzing data, reviewing scholar work, and implementing high-leverage instructional strategies
- Participate in statewide testing, including providing accommodations for New York State ELA and Math Exams and facilitating New York State Alternate Assessment
- Use assessment data to reflect on lesson effectiveness and improve instructional practice
Differentiation and Special Populations
- Learn about and respond to the diverse needs of all students in the classroom
- Differentiate instruction to appropriately engage and challenge all learners
- Employ a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to support different learning styles
- Develop and implement IEPs and behavior plans in collaboration with staff and families to ensure scholar success
- Adapt curriculum and instructional approaches to support autistic scholars and students with disabilities
Family Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with families through consistent communication
- Support families in understanding academic goals, behavioral expectations, and student progress
- Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parents and guardians, honoring diverse cultures, values, and perspectives

Educational Background & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- NYS Teaching Certification preferred (certification pathway support offered)
- Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish required
- Experience with curriculum design, unit planning, and developing a yearlong scope and sequence required
- At least one year of teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred
- Knowledge of and experience supporting students with disabilities, specifically autistic students, preferred
Salary Range
$73,500-$95,000 +
