About the role
Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses specialized materials, equipment and instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of blind or low-vision pupils.

Requirements / Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university
California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service with programs for the visually impaired - Possess specialized techniques and skills: pertinent to working with the visually impaired, such as braille reading and writing, training in use of various technological devices and optical aids
- Background and/or certification: in orientation and mobility
Knowledge of technology for Braille, large print and talking software - Additional: Copy of Transcript (Must Show Confer Date), Credential Copy (California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service with programs for the visually impaired), Letter of Introduction, Resume
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with children with visual impairments age birth through 21 years of age
- Experience working with children with severe disabilities
- Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary
- Ability to use Sign Language

Benefits
Initial placement up to 20 years of creditable experience may be accepted upon verification.
Master’s Degree – $2,000 annual stipend
Doctorate Degree – $3,000 annual stipend
Pay
$62,437.00 - $132,707.00 Annually
