Teacher, Visually Impaired

About the role

The Visually Impaired Teacher position is available for the 2026-2027 school year. This role requires candidates to hold or be eligible for a Florida Educators Certificate in Visually Impaired (K-12).

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students with visual impairments.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate the needs of visually impaired students.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers and support staff to ensure a comprehensive educational program.
• Assist students in accessing and using assistive technology.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Experience working with Braille is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• At least one year of teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Knowledge of Braille and its use in education.

Skills

• Proficiency in using assistive technology.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
