About the Role

Provide instructional leadership in collaboration with the school's principal and ILT for the development and continuous improvement of the Primary Years Programme at the school. Support the MPS Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plan with specific emphasis on standards alignment, curriculum design and delivery, assessment and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the school Instructional Leadership Team
  • Develop accountability systems and practices at the school level to ensure academic growth for all students
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Exhibition
  • Coordinate and prepare stakeholders for Programme Evaluation and site visit
  • Collaborate across all MPS IB schools to develop teacher leaders, build strong K-12 pathways and ensure curriculum alignment
  • Represent school & district at local, state, regional and national events and conferences (e.g., MNIB)
  • Use student learning and IB assessment data to monitor and improve inquiry instruction and curriculum effectiveness
  • Facilitate the MYP unit planning process to help teachers move collaboratively to a fully developed written, taught and assessed curriculum
  • Ensure MYP units across subject areas align with MPS MYP curriculum maps (MN standards, ATL, IB Criteria, and other elements of the MYP unit planner)
  • Develop, coordinate and monitor school collaboration and professional development plan to include IB required training, induction of new staff, PLC and individual teacher coaching support
  • Facilitate professional development activities that align best practice, the IB Standards and Practices, MPS Teaching and Learning Frameworks and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Minnesota Elementary Teaching License (K-6)
  • Advanced degree in Educational Leadership or Curriculum preferred
  • Knowledge of IB authorization and evaluation processes
  • Strong budget and project management skills
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for a diverse group of learners and plan effective professional development experiences for teachers
  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze data for instructional and program improvement
  • Ability to transport materials weighing 40 lbs to school sites
  • Ability to travel between school sites
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary
