Requirements

  • Hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement and preferably Science or Math.

Skills And Abilities Required

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the MEEGS process as outlined in Oklahoma.
  • Have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
  • Be proficient in the use of a computer, data bases, excel, word, etc.
  • Have excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Have transportation and the ability to move between schools.

Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Plan curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of the student considering state and school requirements and educational levels of development.
  • Able to provide accommodations to meet individual student's needs.
  • Prepares all acquired special education paperwork in a timely manner in order to satisfy state requirements.
  • Conduct annual IEP meetings.
  • Reviews and reports student progress in a required time frame. As well as discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators.
  • Able to co-teach if necessary.
  • Able to work well with all related service providers.
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and personal care assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post graduation.
  • Perform other teaching duties as specific to specialized area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay

THIS POSITION IS FULL-TIME, PERMANENT.
