Requirements
- Hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement and preferably Science or Math.
Skills And Abilities Required
- Demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the MEEGS process as outlined in Oklahoma.
- Have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
- Be proficient in the use of a computer, data bases, excel, word, etc.
- Have excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Have transportation and the ability to move between schools.
Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Plan curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of the student considering state and school requirements and educational levels of development.
- Able to provide accommodations to meet individual student's needs.
- Prepares all acquired special education paperwork in a timely manner in order to satisfy state requirements.
- Conduct annual IEP meetings.
- Reviews and reports student progress in a required time frame. As well as discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators.
- Able to co-teach if necessary.
- Able to work well with all related service providers.
- Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and personal care assistants who work with students with disabilities.
- Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post graduation.
- Perform other teaching duties as specific to specialized area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
