Teacher - Special Education, Independent Learning Center (ILC)

About the role
Current Bethel School District employees must apply through an internal process. External applicants, including substitutes, must complete a standard application. Applicants must hold a valid and appropriate teaching certificate and endorsement for Washington State, with a K-12 Special Education endorsement being mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver instruction based on the best available research and practices.
- Work effectively with staff, students, and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Participate in district-approved de-escalation and restraint training.
- Apply knowledge in and practice Team Teaching and Effective Instruction.
- Have previous experience in teaching students with special needs.
- Design and deliver individual special education programs for severely/profoundly multiply delayed students.
- Function as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Show evidence of positive human relations skills.
- Be able to meet the demands of restraining, lifting, and handling disabled students.
- Be capable of feeding, toileting, and performing personal hygiene tasks on students.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- District approved de-escalation and restraint training.
