Position is for the 2026-2027 school year at Valley View Innovation School, PK-6, located at 6951 Fox Street, Denver, CO 80216.

About the Role

Assist teacher with instructing students, reinforcing materials and skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining technology, and/or managing student behavior and/or needs in one of the following specialties: Title I, Bilingual/Multicultural, Classroom, Health Care Management, or Computer Technology.

Projects come to life in one of six Immersion Studios – robotics, technology, culinary arts, art, music, and science – incorporating multiple standards and building cross-curricular connections.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans, maintaining classrooms, reinforcing skills and materials, administering/scoring/recording tests and grades, evaluating students/programs, preparing instructional materials, developing work schedules, performing clerical duties, maintaining files/records/progress reports.
  • Supervise students to and from classrooms/buses, on field trips, playgrounds, computer labs, and during other activities.
  • Prepare classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials.
  • Tutor and lead activities for classes or small groups.
  • Assist students with understanding and reinforcing skills and materials in their native language.
  • Support parents by interpreting at school functions and providing student progress information.
  • Assist with student health care, including administering first aid, caring for bathroom needs, dispensing medication, assisting with medical needs, executing health care directives (e.g., tube feeding, monitoring diabetes), conducting health screenings, maintaining health records, and ordering/stocking medical supplies.
  • Maintain, monitor, and manage computer technology, including workstations, labs, servers, software, networks, troubleshooting, data backups, service agreements, inventory, warranties, and computer-generated reports.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of the building technology plan and budget.
  • Attend in-services, building meetings, training, and school functions.
  • Assist with lunch supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Note: Special Education staff are hired and assigned based on student needs and may be reassigned or released in accordance with applicable law and policy due to program modifications, enrollment declines, or changes in student needs.

Requirements

  • AA Degree or have passed State Approved Assessment.
  • 0-2 years' experience working with children in a school setting.
  • May require training in computers, bilingual education, languages, culture, or health care procedures.
  • Special Education assignments may require Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training on non-verbal de-escalation and physical restraint (provided by the District at no cost).
  • First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.
  • May require experience in health care, working with children with learning/physical disabilities, or working with networks/network management.

Skills

  • Basic English, grammar, spelling, writing, word processing, keyboarding, and communication skills.
  • Foreign language skills may be required.
  • Operating knowledge of general office equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions, school/District guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Independent judgment to manage students, assist in their education, make quick decisions, treat students equitably, evaluate abilities/progress, and direct students in the teacher’s absence.

Pay

$18.88 - $40.67 per hour (C10 Ranges).

Schedule

181 days per year, 7 hours per day.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequently talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lift/carry up to 50 pounds without assistance; push/pull 200 pounds while assisting students in wheelchairs.
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Regularly required to communicate, use interpersonal skills, instruct, and analyze; frequently required to compare, copy, coordinate, compute, evaluate, and compile.
