Qualifications

• Hold New Jersey teacher certificates in P-3 or K-6 and Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped
• Possess interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents, and community
• Diagnose student strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials
• Mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills
• Expertise in designing and implementing standards-based instruction
• Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
• Ability to analyze and use data to drive instruction
• Excellent integrity and good moral character; demonstrate initiative
• Critical thinker, problem solver, and respect for others
• Computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community
• Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
