Teacher - SPARK Program 2026-2027

Part-time, 10-month position reporting to the Director of SPARK.

About the role

The SPARK Teacher provides childcare to students before school starts and after the normal school day has ended. The primary focus is on the safety and well-being of children, along with providing instruction or educational support in coordination with the school or district. Responsibilities include creating and implementing lesson plans, supervising activities, and working under the direction of the site leader.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate core programming to advance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
• Maintain a safe working environment and safe conditions for all students and staff.
• Contribute ideas for enrichment activities, arts and crafts projects, and program quality.
• Work with the Program Director and Site Leader to make appropriate referrals as needed.
• Effectively communicate with parents of students to achieve program goals.
• Contribute to the overall success of the program by performing all assigned duties professionally, timely, and accurately.
• Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and school site partners.
• Assist students with homework, monitor outside recess, and coordinate scheduled activities.
• Regularly participate in staff training, continued education, or staff meetings.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the administrator.

Requirements

• CPR Certification or willingness to become certified.
• First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified.
• Must be at least 16 years of age and have completed 10th grade or above.
• Great interpersonal skills and exceptional time management.
• Computer literate with excellent written and oral communication ability.
• Strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and laws applicable to education and special education, including Oklahoma State Department of Education regulations related to curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to follow all district policies and procedures.
• Ability to work without supervision and as a team player.
• Ability to document records accurately and manage confidential information respectfully.
• Ability to listen effectively and maintain emotional control under stressful situations.
• Must have your own transportation to visit all sites.

Skills

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (e.g., frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis).
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to stand, sit, and walk.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Primarily inside working conditions with some exposure to environmental conditions when observing students outside on the playground.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$16/hr - $20/hr depending on qualifications.
