About the role
The Downingtown Area School District is seeking a certified French teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Lionville Middle School. This is a permanent, full-time contracted position.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare lessons based on the content area and district curriculum
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Use current technology for instruction and communication
- Adapt to flexible work schedules as needed
- Manage classroom activities and behaviors
- Provide regular feedback to students on their progress
- Participate in professional development activities
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college or university
- Valid PA certification for World Language PK-12 - French
- Knowledge of the assigned subject matter
- Positive attitude towards teaching and service to the district
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work under periods of stress
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proven ability to teach and engage students
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Passes all required background checks

Pay
Placement upon salary scale is dependent upon education and years of teaching service. Refer to Appendix B of the DAEA Agreement for the 2026-2027 Salary Schedule. The schedule indicates a 7.5-hour workday with up to 191 days per year, plus up to 3 days of orientation for professional employees during the first year of employment.
