About the role

The Downingtown Area School District is seeking a certified French teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Lionville Middle School. This is a permanent, full-time contracted position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare lessons based on the content area and district curriculum
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Use current technology for instruction and communication
  • Adapt to flexible work schedules as needed
  • Manage classroom activities and behaviors
  • Provide regular feedback to students on their progress
  • Participate in professional development activities

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university
  • Valid PA certification for World Language PK-12 - French
  • Knowledge of the assigned subject matter
  • Positive attitude towards teaching and service to the district
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to work under periods of stress

  • Proven ability to teach and engage students
  • Experience working with diverse student populations

Pay

Placement upon salary scale is dependent upon education and years of teaching service. Refer to Appendix B of the DAEA Agreement for the 2026-2027 Salary Schedule. The schedule indicates a 7.5-hour workday with up to 191 days per year, plus up to 3 days of orientation for professional employees during the first year of employment.
