Teacher - Science/Social Studies 0.50 FTE (TR)

Compensation is based on the District 308 Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by education and experience. The district grants experience credit for up to 10 years of prior, verifiable, contractual full-time teaching experience. This position is represented by the Oswego Education Association (OEA) and requires payment of membership dues or a fair share of the costs of services rendered by the Association.

Qualifications

• Valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with proper endorsement(s)
• Recent teaching experience in the subject matter (new graduates may be exempt)
• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods, and current teaching techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others

Responsibilities

• Lesson Planning and Preparation
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy, including understanding of content relationships and connections with other disciplines
  • Applies knowledge of students' backgrounds, strengths, needs, and interests to plan for diverse groups
  • Sets instructional outcomes reflecting high-level learning and curriculum standards, suitable for most students and assessable across the curriculum
  • Utilizes school or district resources to enhance teaching and support student needs
  • Designs coherent instruction aligned with outcomes, engaging all students in significant learning
  • Develops student assessments aligned with instructional outcomes and uses results to plan future instruction

  • Creates an environment of respect and rapport with polite, warm, and culturally appropriate interactions
  • Establishes a culture for learning with high expectations and a genuine commitment to the subject
  • Manages classroom procedures efficiently, minimizing lost instructional time
