Teacher's Assistant

About the role

The Teacher’s Assistant is responsible for educating and nurturing children in the Early Head Start and Head Start Childcare center. The role ensures children have opportunities to achieve, play, create, and be safe and healthy.

Responsibilities

• Execute lesson plans as assigned by the lead classroom teacher(s).
• Participate and cooperate in special events, activities, parent/teacher conferences as deemed necessary by the administration.
• Support the classroom teacher(s) and carry out assigned duties.
• Implement and carry out organizational, facility, and program objectives in the classroom.
• Plan for the mental, social, physical, and emotional needs of the children served.
• Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
• Prepare and maintain student progress reports, lesson plans, and other reports related to the classroom experience under the guidance of the classroom teacher(s).
• Assist and participate in organizational staff committees and parent committees where appropriate.
• Perform other functions as may be required to support the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of a CDA Credential or Gateway ECE Credential level 2. Level 4 ECE Credential preferred.

Pay

The salary range is $51,000 - $55,000 annually.
