Teacher's Aide (TA) for Core Subjects
Help teenagers regain academic self-confidence in a therapeutic setting as they progress on their healing journey. Located near Three Peaks Recreational Park and overlooking Cedar City, Utah, Discovery Ranch South is a relationship-based residential treatment center based in experiential therapy.
About the role
This is a floating Teacher's Aide (TA) position. You will help teachers provide classroom instruction in Social Studies, Science, Math, or Language Arts depending on need. Under the direction of classroom teachers, you will assist middle and high school students with learning the curriculum, completing assignments, practicing study skills, and preparing for tests. TAs also meet weekly with a few advisees to set goals, monitor progress, and provide encouragement.
At Discovery Ranch South, we believe in a holistic approach: addressing not just students' emotional needs, but also their physical, intellectual, environmental, and social ones. You will work closely with teachers, the Academic Director, and other TAs, as well as coordinate with other departments to ensure consistent, quality instruction and teamwork.
Schedule
Part-time, Monday through Friday, 2:45 PM to 8:00 PM.
Pay
Starting pay: $17 per hour.
Requirements
- Evidence of completing 48 college credit hours OR an Associate's Degree OR passing the Praxis ParaPro (within 30 days of employment).
- 21+ years of age.
- Eligible to work in the USA.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Able to pass a motor vehicle record check.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Government-issued ID.
- CPR & First Aid certification (provided by employer).
Qualifications
- Some relevant college courses in social studies, science, math, and language arts (preferred).
- Experience working with teenagers in a classroom setting (preferred).
