About the role
The Reading Teacher is responsible for coaching, motivating, and instructing high school students within the company model, with attention given to each student’s Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). All for-credit courses are aligned to state standards and delivered to engage student learning and accelerate credit accumulation through a mastery-based educational model. The teacher acts as a coach and mentor, focused on ensuring student success.
Responsibilities
- Provide a learning environment of high student accountability that is student-centered and aligned with the school’s academic goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of the subject matter and best practices in teaching/instructional techniques.
- Assist in initiatives to meet defined FTE enrollment and attendance goals.
- Maintain progress monitoring reports, attendance and behavioral records, academic grades, and other student records as required by state regulatory guidelines and company policy.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best educational practices tailored to students' academic needs and aligned with company goals.
- Participate in professional development to maintain appropriate certification or credentials.
- Perform additional duties aligned with company policy to ensure student educational and behavioral goals are achieved.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Appropriate Teacher’s certification.
- Knowledge of the principles of secondary education, curriculum, and instructional theory.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience or ability to work with at-risk youth is preferred.
