About the Role
The Reading Teacher is responsible for coaching, motivating, and instructing high school students within the company model, focusing on each student’s Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). Courses are aligned to state standards and delivered through a mastery-based educational model to engage student learning and accelerate credit accumulation. The teacher acts as a coach and mentor, ensuring student success.
Responsibilities
- Provide a student-centered learning environment with high accountability, aligned with the school’s academic goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate effective subject-matter knowledge and best practices in teaching/instructional techniques.
- Assist in initiatives to meet defined FTE enrollment and attendance goals.
- Maintain progress monitoring reports, attendance and behavioral records, academic grades, and other student records as required by state guidelines and company policy.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best educational practices tailored to students' academic needs and aligned with company goals.
- Participate in professional development to maintain appropriate certification or credentials.
- Perform additional duties aligned with company policy to ensure student educational and behavioral goals are achieved.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Florida Teaching Certification with Reading or ESOL endorsement.
- Knowledge of secondary education principles, curriculum, and instructional theory.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience or ability to work with at-risk youth is preferred.
