Responsibilities

• Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and special committees.
• Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques.
• Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies.
• Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise.
• Maintains order and discipline in the classroom.
• Monitors and evaluates student performance.
• Improves skill and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques.
• Participates in regular professional development aligned with Magnet Program.
• Plays a leadership role in evening, weekend, and summer Magnet events.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Experience: Two (2) years teaching experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Knowledge: Knowledge of school organization; curriculum; teaching techniques; current trends, research and materials of instruction in field of specialization.
• Skills: Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school board staff, students, parents and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill and experience to support their child’s education experience; ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
