Teacher-Physical Education PK-12
About the role
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Responsibilities
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
- Cooperatively with department heads, evaluate the job performance of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as needed.
Requirements
Experience teaching PK-12 physical education, including knowledge of state and national standards for physical education. Knowledge of child development and learning theories. Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physical Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Physical Education.
- At least two years of teaching experience at the PK-12 level.

- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
- Knowledge of current physical education curricula and best practices.
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Pay
Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
