Responsibilities
- Assess students' abilities and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to their unique needs.
- Adapt general education lessons and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with various disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Prepare and organize classroom activities, educational materials, and assistive technologies to create an effective learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies and IEPs as necessary.
- Manage classroom behavior, implementing positive behavior support strategies when needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights on student progress and recommending appropriate interventions.
- Engage in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Support early intervening services by participating in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or response to intervention (RTI) initiatives.
- Advocate for students' needs and rights, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and services.
- Complete academic assessments as directed by school site.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
- Current ADE certification.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint card.
