Teacher of the Visually Impaired - $49 per hour

Supplemental Health Care is seeking a School Services Teacher for the Visually Impaired for a local contract position in St. Louis, Missouri.

About the Role

We’re currently seeking a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to support a school district in St. Louis, Missouri. This role involves assessing students, providing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to maximize students’ educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assess students and provide therapeutic interventions to maximize their ability to benefit from educational programs.
• Review and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, modifying Individualized Service Plans (ISP) or Individualized Education Programs (IEP) as needed.
• Maintain appropriate documentation, including written reports to guide educational planning.
• Confer and collaborate with the interdisciplinary education team, parents, and community agencies to coordinate and provide services.
• Maintain and share a working knowledge of current laws, regulations, and strategies in special education.
• You may be asked to travel between school locations.

Requirements

• Teaching Certification with a State-appropriate Teacher of the Visually Impaired Special Education Endorsement.
• Knowledge of Braille, vision assessment instruments and procedures, and low vision aids.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in a school setting.

Pay

$45 - $48.50 per hour.

Schedule

• 13-week contract.
• 36 hours per week.
