ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct students in small group and one-on-one situations.
  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement individualized programs of instruction for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, educational sign language interpreters, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use the data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
  • Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and well-being of students in the classroom and all educational settings.
  • Maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
  • Communicate students’ progress, needs, and eligibility with parents/guardians and other staff.
  • Participate in department, team, building, and District meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree
  • Three (3) years of professional, certified teaching experience
  • COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (CDE) teaching license
  • COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (CDE) Special Education Specialist - Deaf/Hard of Hearing (Ages Birth-21) endorsement
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and simultaneous communication
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
  • Ability and desire to work as a team member
  • Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge that stays on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Light work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds)
  • Primarily works indoors
