Accountabilities The Department of Music at Colgate University invites applications for the position of Teacher of Saxophone, beginning in Fall 2026. This part-time role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong commitment to teaching and a passion for fostering musical growth in a liberal arts setting. Further information about the Department of Music can be found at: http://www.colgate.edu/academics/departments-and-programs/music The Teacher Of Saxophone Is Responsible For Teaching lessons to students; relevant techniques and performance skills.Developing and implementing lesson plans catering to students' needs and skill levels.Selecting appropriate repertoire and musical pieces for students to work on during lessons and performances.Staying updated with current trends and developments and incorporating innovative teaching methods into lessons.Meeting weekly with students to provide 30-minute or 60-minute lessons throughout the term. Professional Experience/Qualifications Demonstrated experience in teaching saxophone lessons on a one-on-one basis, with preference for experience teaching at the collegiate level.Professional performance experience preferred.Ability to effectively communicate and work with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or higher in musicPrivate lesson teaching experience including beginning, intermediate, and advanced studentsExperience with classical saxophone methods and repertoire as a teacher, student, and/or performer Education Bachelor's degree in music required. Other Information Work Schedule: Hours will vary.Flexible availability required to accommodate student violin lessons across any weekday.
