About the role

Plans and implements classroom instruction, specializing within one or more areas of curriculum, to meet the educational needs of students and encourage the best possible educational experience. Assesses abilities and capabilities of individual students; develops, organizes, and implements lesson plans and activities tailored to each student, addressing specific IEP goals. Monitors existing IEPs to ensure goals and objectives are appropriate, achievable, and continue to meet the educational needs of individual students. Recommends modifications to IEPs as needed and may conduct parent training in the classroom and at home. Utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis throughout observation, intervention, data collection, and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement classroom instruction tailored to students' educational needs.
• Assess individual student abilities and develop lesson plans addressing IEP goals.
• Monitor and recommend modifications to existing IEPs.
• Conduct parent training in the classroom and at home.
• Apply principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in observation, intervention, data collection, and assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and eligibility for formal certification such as N.J. Teacher of Disabilities (or of the Handicapped).
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience in special education preferred.
• Eligibility for Highly-Qualified Teacher status.
• Knowledge of teaching methods and educational programs for students with learning, physical, and behavioral disabilities.

Pay

$64,555.00 - $95,568.00 (Exempt)

Full Time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday
