Starting salary is $48,700. Additional Referendum money is available for the next two years starting at $7,730 for the 2026-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups.
  • Implements, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning or their mental/physical health and safety.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks assistance from District specialists as needed.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops and maintains fair classroom behavior rules.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers, and evaluates their performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.

Skills

  • Knowledge of subject content.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson planning, etc.
  • Ability to manage students and multiple tasks effectively.
