About the role

The Teacher (English, Math, & General) position for the 2026-27 school year offers a salary range of $50,088 - $62,184 annually, based on 209 working school days.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches subject matter appropriate to educational background and certification.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates the individual educational plan for each student.
  • Plans and outlines class work within prescribed limits; assembles and prepares learning materials for special study.
  • Keeps scholastic and attendance records.
  • Gives individual instruction and encouragement as needed.
  • May operate as part of a teaching team. May assist in teacher training of peers and student teachers/interns.
  • Participates in conferences/meetings with parents.
  • Conferences with building Supervisor and/or parents regarding students' needs, progress and/or abilities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of modern practices, techniques and methods of teaching, particularly as this applies to the area of education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Ability to use constructive behavior management in a classroom.
  • Ability to assess needs of students and develop program accordingly.
  • Ability to work effectively with students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing, reading and/or speech and sign language.
  • Ability to make accurate observations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Must meet the required American Sign Language competency level of Advanced.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or Special Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri State Teachers’ Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Other qualifications and experience meeting the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or Special Education with ASL skills from an accredited college or university.

State Tax Requirement
