Teacher, Interventionist (Reading), (2026-2027) - Ella Baker Elementary
Full-time position (1.0 FTE) for 42 weeks per year, based at Ella Baker PK-8.
About the Role
Provides academic and behavioral support to students with or at risk of having a learning disability, often focusing on early intervention to prevent the need for special education services. Delivers quality instruction aligned to state and national standards, using a variety of assessment strategies—diagnostic, formative, and summative—to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning. Engages students in rigorous, inquiry-based learning tasks that promote deep content knowledge and habits of scholarship. May be required to work as a member of the campus STEM team to ensure quality integrated instruction across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Implement Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements, applying knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current research-based best practices.
- Teach required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices tailored to students' needs and abilities.
- Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs, providing developmentally appropriate instruction.
- Create safe, respectful, and engaging learning environments that are multicultural, gender-fair, ability-inclusive, and developmentally appropriate.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with families to support educational decisions and leverage community resources.
- Align instruction with the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school objectives.
- Assess instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP) and participate in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
- Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, or job-embedded staff development.
- Valid Minnesota teaching license or proof of pending approved licensure.

Pay
Salary range: $55,796–$116,593.
