Description

District 39 is seeking teachers who are child-centered professionals with a high degree of energy, flexibility, and initiative, as well as well-developed interpersonal skills. The expectation is that teachers will practice reflective teaching strategies and seek continuous self-improvement. This position requires a highly skilled, versatile music educator dedicated to fostering student growth across multiple developmental stages. The successful candidate will possess a unique combination of instructional and organizational expertise, including experience in recruiting, instrument matching, and teaching beginning band students on all instruments. Additionally, this role requires a proven track record in developing middle school musicians, conducting large concert band ensembles, and collaborating effectively across two school sites. Please note that this position also includes co-directing the robust Junior High Jazz Program. While this is an after-school program, it is a long-standing core expectation of the role. The Jazz Program consistently supports two distinct ensembles, and candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their capability in this specialized area.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of instrumental music pedagogy.
  • Instrumental music teaching experience preferred.
  • Valid IL educator licensure with proper endorsement(s).
