About the role

Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of age-appropriate curriculum using Project Construct Indicators, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and Accreditation Standards. You will demonstrate an understanding of each child's individual needs as well as the group, assisting each child in becoming an integral member of the group. The role involves providing opportunities for children to construct their own knowledge through exploration and play experiences, ensuring smooth coordination of staff/child interaction and activities. Adaptations are made as necessary to meet the individual learning style of each child, and you will relate to children in a positive and respectful manner.

Responsible for the supervision and management of the assigned classroom while providing a safe and nurturing environment. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand and address each child's individual needs as well as group dynamics.
• Assist children in becoming integral members of the group.
• Provide opportunities for children to learn through exploration and play.
• Coordinate staff/child interactions and activities smoothly.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles.
• Relate to children in a positive and respectful manner.
• Supervise and manage the assigned classroom, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be registered with the State of practice Family Care Safety Registry within 15 days of hire.

Qualifications

• 1 year of child care experience preferred.
• Experience working with children in an early childhood setting preferred.
