About the role
The Early Head Start Teacher I is responsible for planning and implementing individually age-appropriate care giving activities, curriculum, and practices for infants and toddlers, ages 0-3 years. The teacher applies theories and sound principles of early childhood education and recognizes parents as full partners in their children's development.
Responsibilities
- Plans and implements age-appropriate activities for infants and toddlers
- Recognizes and supports the unique needs of both typically developing and infants/toddlers with special developmental needs
- Collaborates with parents to support their children's development
- Adapts curriculum and practices based on individual child needs
Requirements
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with 2 years experience teaching infants and toddlers in a child care setting
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Early Child Development with 3 years experience teaching infants and toddlers in a child care setting, and an approved plan to meet the foregoing requirement
- Minimum: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education with 2 years experience teaching infants and toddlers in a childcare setting, or a High School Diploma or equivalent with a CDA and 5 years experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting, and a written plan to meet the minimum requirements within 2 years
