Carolina Kids Child Development Center, part of the Cadence Education family, is seeking an energetic and passionate Afterschool Counselor to join our preschool team. We combine research-based curriculum with home-based environments to provide leading-edge early education.

About the role

The Afterschool Counselor will play a vital role in our school-age program, designing and leading engaging activities that foster a love for movement and exercise while supporting gross motor skills development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead structured activities such as games, exercises, and obstacle courses to stimulate gross motor skills development.
• Foster a safe and encouraging environment that encourages children to explore different movements and activities.
• Customize activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of individual children, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
• Instill values of teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship through interactive group activities and games.
• Maintain open communication with parents and caregivers, sharing updates on children's day.
• Ensure the gym space is clean, organized, and equipment is well-maintained and safely stored.

Requirements

• HS diploma or Bachelor's degree in physical education, early childhood education, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience working with young children, particularly in a preschool or daycare environment.
• Solid understanding of child development principles and proficiency in designing age-appropriate physical activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young children effectively.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the dynamic nature of a preschool environment.
