About the Role
Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional, and social growth. Uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate abilities and interests and special instructional procedures to meet the individual needs of severely handicapped pupils.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university
- California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service within programs for Extensive Needs
- For teachers providing special education services to children from birth through pre-kindergarten: Early Childhood Special Education Added Authorization
- First Aid and CPR Certification within six months of employment
- For classrooms where students may require physical restraint: Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six months of employment and maintain valid certification
- California driver’s license and evidence of insurability
- Copy of transcript (must show confer date)
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with children with extensive needs
- Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary
- Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish
Pay
Annual pay range: $62,437.00 - $132,707.00. Initial placement up to 20 years of creditable experience may be accepted upon verification.
- Master’s Degree: $2,000 annual stipend
- Doctorate Degree: $3,000 annual stipend
Schedule
Monday through Friday; 7 hours per day; 184 days per year. Full-time position.
