About the role
The Library Media Specialist is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of library programs that support student learning. This includes managing the library collection, promoting literacy, and collaborating with teachers to integrate technology and resources into the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Manage the library collection, ensuring it is organized, accessible, and aligned with educational goals.
- Promote literacy and reading skills through various programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology and digital resources into classroom instruction.
- Evaluate and update library materials to ensure they are current and meet the needs of students and staff.
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers on using the library and its resources effectively.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all users of the library.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Library Science or related field from an ALA-accredited program.
- Experience working in a school library setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for travel).
Qualifications
- Knowledge of current trends in education and library services.
- Experience with integrating technology into teaching and learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with library management software.
