Starting salary is $48,700. Referendum money is available for the 2026-27 school year only, starting at around $7,000; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement based on the date of hire.
About the Role
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of students. Implements the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Supervises students to protect them from harmful conditions and ensures their mental and physical safety.
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and District policy.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks assistance from District specialists as needed.
- Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Develops and maintains fair and reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures.
- Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours when required.
- Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides or volunteers and evaluates their performance.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Eligibility for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
Skills
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement programs of study tailored to student needs.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading and lesson preparation.
- Ability to manage students and multiple tasks effectively.
