Starting salary is $48,700. Additional Referendum money is available for the next year starting at $7,000 for the 26-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
Responsibilities
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of students or student groups.
- Implements the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals through instruction and action.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and at scheduled times.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning, mental or physical health, and safety.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks assistance from District specialists as needed.
- Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops and enforces reasonable classroom behavior rules.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides or volunteers and evaluates their performance cooperatively with department heads.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
Skills
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study tailored to student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson planning, etc.
- Ability to manage students and multiple tasks effectively.
