About the role

We are seeking full-time Teachers to join our team. This position includes potential sign-on bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in ongoing educational assessments of patients.
  • Provide instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined classroom structure.
  • Develop special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting.
  • Assist in curriculum development.
  • Participate in patient treatment planning and staffing when necessary.
  • Understand basic growth and development milestones with appropriate interventions specific to the age and population served.
  • Complete patient lesson plans and maintain all required records.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patients’ age and functioning level.
  • Participate in case management activities as required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience with emotionally disturbed/behaviorally disordered (ED/BD) children and/or adolescents preferred.
  • Valid Illinois teaching certificate; certification in Special Education preferred.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population.
  • Proficiency in individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and crisis and behavior management.
