Teacher - EC

About the Role

The EC Teacher is responsible for coaching, motivating, and instructing special education high school students within the company model. The role focuses on each student’s Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) and Individual Educational Plan (IEP), delivering state-aligned, mastery-based instruction. The EC Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff to meet students' instructional and social-emotional needs, ensures compliance with all EC paperwork and reporting requirements, and facilitates adherence to state, district, and company Response to Intervention (RtI) policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide a team-oriented, student-centered learning environment aligned with academic goals and IEP objectives.
• Implement instructional best practices and modifications for special education students.
• Adhere to the Standard Operating Model and effective classroom management.
• Analyze student diagnostic and performance data to inform instruction.
• Deliver regular small-group intervention instruction as documented in schedules and sign-in sheets.
• Provide data-driven professional development to staff members.
• Participate in District, State, or National professional development for special educators.
• Maintain communication and collaboration logs with peers, students, parents, and stakeholders.
• Ensure 80% of EC students show increased state assessment scores.
• Maintain 100% compliance with progress monitoring, IEP records, and meetings.
• Demonstrate leadership in the RtI process and timely reporting of students needing academic support.
• Support students using strategies, modifications, and interventions in assigned subject areas.
• Conduct data-driven small-group interventions for reading, math, and other subjects.
• Provide differentiated instruction based on student data, documented in IEP and Progress Monitoring Logs.
• Collaborate with advisory teachers and staff on strategies to increase student achievement.
• Communicate high expectations for student improvement and success.
• Act as a counselor, advisor, facilitator, advocate, and coach to guide students through their IGP and IEP.
• Maintain positive communication and interactions with students, peers, and parents.
• Ensure adherence to all aspects of students' IEPs through observation and documentation.
• Maintain, disaggregate, and provide progress monitoring reports, IEP compliance records, attendance, behavioral records, and academic grades.
• Ensure 100% compliance with company policies for attendance and behavioral record-keeping.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date progress monitoring data, student records, IEPs, and required meetings.
• Disaggregate and communicate student assessment results to staff.
• Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best educational practices aligned with IEP and company goals.
• Maintain collegiality and professionalism in the work environment.
• Assist in initiatives to meet defined ADM enrollment and attendance goals.
• Perform other duties aligned with company policy and educational goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university.
• Appropriate North Carolina Teaching Certification (Special Education K-12).
• Knowledge of the principles of secondary education and curriculum/instructional theory.
• Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience or ability to work with overage and at-risk youth is preferred.
