Teacher - Dual Language [ASL] Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, Gr. K-12 (SY26-27)

About the role

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Special Education Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Teach Special Education of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing
• Use the Rubric of Effective Teaching to set ambitious learning goals, assess students' understanding, and adjust instruction based on student needs.
• Communicate content in creative and engaging ways that align to standards.
• Scaffold and differentiate instruction to support all students in doing complex thinking and rigorous academic work.
• Engage with families and build collaborative, respectful relationships with them in service of student learning.
• Regularly reflect on practice, seek and respond to feedback, and demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree. Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (All Levels).
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above.
• Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred Experience: Teaching in urban schools.
• Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.
• Preference for certification in Moderate Disabilities and English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s)).

Schedule

The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
