About the Role
The CTE Marketing Education Teacher performs instructional work with limited decision-making discretion, providing leadership in the educational environment to encourage and nurture learning for all students. The teacher supervises, monitors, and evaluates students while developing lesson plans to meet diverse student needs, all under the direction of the principal.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures, as well as the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
- Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop and maintain fair classroom behavior and procedures.
- Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students.
- Deliver instruction in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship using engaging, real-world applications.
- Integrate industry-standard tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, into classroom instruction and authentic marketing scenarios.
- Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods to achieve learning objectives.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals aligned with district and North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) standards.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these to students.
- Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Diagnose student learning challenges and seek assistance from central office staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate records for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
- Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students, including those with disabilities and limited English proficiency.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for activities; manage inventory of CTE course supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and persevere through challenges.
- Use techniques and strategies that promote critical, creative, and evaluative thinking.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess student progress.
- Act as a test administrator for the North Carolina Test Program in accordance with state guidelines.
- Observe and assess students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical needs.
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, priorities, and resource needs; encourage parent involvement.
- Confer with parents, counselors, and administrators to resolve behavioral and academic challenges.
- Prepare and implement enrichment programs and remediation.
- Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) and staff meetings for data analysis and instructional planning.
- Participate in professional development to improve skills and stay current with developments in Business Education and Computer Science.
- Coordinate CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state, and/or national competitions.
- Perform safety functions and drills to maintain a safe instructional environment.
- Take necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Valid North Carolina teaching license with a marketing education area, CTE restricted license with a marketing area, or residency license with a marketing education area.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship curriculum principles, standards, and expectations.
- Ability to utilize data and information to make instructional decisions for students.
- Understanding of learning styles, curriculum development, program evaluation, instructional strategies, classroom management, and learning assessment.
- Knowledge of careers related to marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.
- Proficiency in database, spreadsheet, word processing applications, and related software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to instructional practice and business needs.
- Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment.
Pay
Certified salary.
Schedule
Full-time, 10 months.
Reports to: Principal. The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, with the possibility of assignment to other locations as needed.
