Teacher Consultant, Testing

About the role

Evaluates children referred as potentially eligible for special education services and programs.

Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team and assists in the comprehensive assessment of students suspected of having a disability as outlined in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.

Understands assessment methods including but not limited to progress monitoring, curriculum-based measurement, and formative assessment.

This may include participation in problem-solving teams and requires knowledge of data collection and tiered systems of interventions.

Supports staff in identifying and using researched-based instructional practices.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a teacher consultant with a valid teaching certificate with special education endorsement or eligible for approval.
• Masters Degree in education or a field of study related to special education and 3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience, not less than two years of which is teaching in a special education classroom.
• Knowledge and experience in consulting with regular and special education teachers.

$52,423 - $99,789 2026-2027 Salary Range (commensurate with experience)
