Teacher Childcare - Sign on Bonus

New hire sign-on bonus of $1,500–$3,000 based on experience.

About the role

The Teacher participates in the planning and implementation of a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate program experience for the children in their care and assesses children’s progress in all areas of development. This full-time position is located at the Yawkey Center in Dorchester.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to children’s learning, growth, and overall development.
• Maintain a positive mindset toward children’s learning and social-emotional development.
• Respond to the needs of infants and toddlers and invest in their well-being, health, and safety.
• Actively supervise children to ensure safety both indoors and outdoors, correcting hazards where possible and alerting supervisor to concerns.
• Document and communicate observed situations and behaviors of concern to the Director of Child Care Services.
• Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of children’s progress using provided technology; maintain children’s portfolios for teacher/parent conferences.
• Follow health, safety, and housekeeping procedures while maintaining a comforting and inviting classroom environment.
• Provide child guidance and behavior management according to the center’s policies and procedures.
• Participate in age-appropriate curriculum planning, implementation, reflection, and evaluation.
• Prepare curriculum materials.
• Document daily attendance and food program participation.
• Prepare accident and injury reports in accordance with EEC and DESE regulations; report timely to the Director.
• Build respectful and professional relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
• Ensure programming meets the needs of individual children and is responsive to cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Follow through with all directives, assigned tasks, and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism.
• Meet EEC requirements for annual professional development hours and enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core Competency.
• Demonstrate teamwork and contribute as a team player.
• Maintain high standards of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including confidentiality.
• Perform job duties including evacuating the building, with or without accommodations, including the ability to read, write, hear conversational voice, speak clearly, and assist children in the assigned age group.
• Work in classroom and outdoor environments, requiring kneeling, standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
• Attend internal and external meetings and trainings, which may require early or later hours to ensure classroom coverage.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• EEC teacher certification with one of the following combinations:
  • BA in Early Childhood and 6 months’ work experience,
  • BA in related field and 2 Early Childhood courses,
  • AA in Early Childhood and 1 year experience,
  • CDA in Early Childhood and 2 years’ experience, or
  • High school diploma, 3 Early Childhood courses, and 3 years’ work experience.
• Motivated, energetic, punctual, and responsible with a positive attitude as a role model for children and coworkers.
• Ability to teach and interact with parents, employees, and coworkers.
• Pass background record check (CORI/SORI/DCF) and fingerprinting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Zoom.
• Ability to work varied hours for classroom coverage.

Pay

The base pay range reflects what Catholic Charities reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified. Actual compensation may be determined based on work experience, education, and specialty training.

Sign-on bonus details: half paid in the first available payroll cycle following the start date and half after successful completion of 90 days of employment.
