About the role
This posting creates a pool of candidates for future positions that may become available. The successful candidate will provide instruction of students, supervise students, prepare and administer assessments, evaluate student performance, and assist in various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Plans, prepares, and presents lessons, assignments, and instructional materials to students.
- Teaches demonstration lessons to model methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Works collaboratively with core content teachers to develop and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Affords regular assistance to classroom teachers in providing intervention activities.
- Aids the administration in the development and implementation of programs to address student needs.
- Collaborates in coordinating and administering certification and state licensure examinations.
- Utilizes assessment results periodically and analyzes data to monitor student performance.
- Maintains and monitors the implementation of the school improvement plan and makes recommendations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
- Knowledge of school organization, goals, and objectives with special emphasis on teaching techniques.
- Knowledge of current trends, research in field of specialization, and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary connections.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in technical areas of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to speak and write effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill, and experience to support their child’s education experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
- Hold or be eligible for professional educator certificate/license issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
