About the role

The Charter School of Excellence is a free, non-profit public charter school in Erie, Pennsylvania that provides small and safe learning environments for students in grades 6–12. We believe all kids can learn and be successful in the right environment with programming to meet their needs. Our philosophy is based on relationship building with students and parents as well as community partners. In addition to core subjects like math, language arts, and science, we offer a one-of-a-kind student workforce program as well as high-interest electives such as Culinary Arts, Animation, Media Arts, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Digital Music Production, and our English Language Development program, designed to meet the needs of the local refugee population.

Requirements

• Pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
• PDE FBI Fingerprints, PA Childline, and PA Criminal clearances

Schedule

The workday is from 8:00 am–3:30 pm.

English Language Development Teacher

• PA Teacher Certification required
• ESL certification required

High School ELA Teacher

• High School Language Arts certification required

High School Social Studies Teacher

• PA Teacher Certification in Social Studies required
• ACT 48 Continuing Education requirements must be current
• Special Education Certification required

Math Teacher

• PA Teaching Certification required
• 7–12 Math Certification required

Special Education Teacher PA

• Teaching Certification required
• ACT 48 Continuing Education requirements must be current
• Special Education Certification required

Substitute Teacher - Building Sub

• PA Teaching Certification preferred but not required
• Bachelor’s degree required
