About the role

Ombudsman Educational Services is seeking a Teacher to join our award-winning Alternative Education team. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the success of students in Grades 7-12 by implementing proven instructional strategies aligned with ChanceLight Education methodologies and Ombudsman policies. You will deliver targeted instruction, utilize innovative curriculum resources, integrate educational software, and create comprehensive lesson plans tailored to the diverse physical, emotional, and educational needs of each student, in alignment with state and school standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver impactful, engaging instruction using diverse curriculum materials and advanced educational software tools tailored to student needs.
  • Develop comprehensive daily lesson plans and structured classroom schedules that align with state guidelines and school requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with special education teachers and support staff to differentiate instruction and ensure all students receive necessary accommodations.
  • Implement clear behavioral standards and classroom management practices to establish a structured, safe, and conducive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Participate actively in team meetings to address student needs, resolve concerns, and strengthen the educational support network.
  • Assess and track student progress consistently through robust classroom data collection and analysis to inform instructional practices.
  • Stay current with the latest research-based educational practices and advancements within your subject area.
  • Respond constructively to formal evaluations and informal feedback to foster professional development and growth.
  • Contribute positively to the broader educational community by performing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid GA state teaching credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company-approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience with curriculum development, classroom management, differentiation, and instruction in an education setting.
  • Prior teaching experience in relevant grade level and/or subject matter, preferably in an alternative, special education, or behavioral health program setting.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in working with students with individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and conducting critical conversations to help them achieve realistic goals.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum development, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
