About the role

At Acceleration Academies, we transform the lives of students who have disengaged from traditional schooling by empowering them to earn their high school diploma tuition-free. We partner with school districts nationwide to offer dropout recovery and student re-engagement programs supported by cutting-edge technology and compassionate teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Support new student enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Aid in the development of Personalized Learning Plans for students
  • Serve as an advisor for assigned students, maintaining regular communication and monitoring attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness
  • Plan and deliver content-area instruction in individual and small group settings
  • Maintain strong ownership of student progress toward course completion, credit accumulation, and graduation readiness goals using formative and summative assessments and academy data systems
  • Analyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Participate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community events
  • Collaborate with the student support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plans
  • Represent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiatives
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary academy team including Student Advocates, Professional School Counselors, and academy leadership to provide coordinated wraparound support
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification for grades 6–12 or 9–12 in Math, English/ELA, Social Studies, Special Education, or Science
  • 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)
  • Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
  • A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally

Qualifications

  • Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education models
  • Experience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based education
  • Demonstrated ability to use learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and data dashboards to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions
