The Role

As a Teacher, you will serve as the primary instructional resource for our students, delivering competency-based content, supporting personalized learning, and guiding students toward graduation and post-secondary success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enrollment Support: New student enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Retention: Serve as an advisor for assigned students by maintaining communication with learners and their support team; Monitor attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness to ensure consistent engagement and achievement
  • Academics: Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settings; Maintain strong ownership of student progress toward course completion, credit accumulation, and graduation readiness goals using formative and summative assessments and academy data systems; Analyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomes; Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Advocacy: Collaborate with the student support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plans; Represent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiatives; Collaborate with a multidisciplinary academy team including Student Advocates, Professional School Counselors, and academy leadership to provide coordinated wraparound support
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Certification (REQUIRED): Valid state teaching certification for grades 6–12 or 9–12 in one of the following content areas: Math, English/ELA, Social Studies, Special Education, or Science
  • Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)
  • Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
  • Passion: A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings; Bilingual (Spanish preferred); Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education models; Experience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based education; Demonstrated ability to use learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and data dashboards to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions
