About the role

The Teacher Associate (Sp Ed - Lv III) position at Southeast Polk Community School District supports the educational team in providing specialized services to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with small groups and/or individual student instruction and supervision.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment in various school settings.
  • Operates standard school equipment and completes clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Reads and comprehends at the student's grade level or above.
  • Communicates effectively with all staff and follows Kronos rules for clocking in and out.
  • Reports to assigned centers as scheduled and implements daily activities.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe environment and ensures the health and safety of students.
  • Records behavioral incidents and keeps all assigned paperwork up-to-date and submits in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a positive role model for students and participates in home visits.
  • Assists in meal preparation and clean-up as needed.
  • Attends required staff meetings and completes annual Bloodborne Pathogens training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students.
  • Successful completion of background checks and pre-work screening.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.
  • Ability to obtain required training, including medication administration, first aid/cpr, and CPI.
  • Knowledgeable about program policies and procedures.
  • Physical demands: standing throughout the work day, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying up to 25 pounds, and working in various environments.

Qualifications

  • Successful work or volunteer experience with disabled populations.
  • Supervisory experience with school-age children.
  • 48 credit hours of post-secondary education or Para educator certification.
