Teacher Assistants - 52 weeks

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaches pre-school children in a joyful, nurturing, safe, healthy individualized environment.
  • Develops and implements developmentally-appropriate lesson plans and individualized activities.
  • Develops and implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with special needs.
  • Engages in record keeping activities such as daily observations of children and communication with parents.
  • Participates in Team meetings.
  • Maintains EEC requirements including child to staff ratios, classroom supervision, etc.
  • Operates the classroom/center on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provides classroom coverage in the absence of the Teacher or Lead Teacher.
  • Reports to the Teacher or Lead Teacher regarding daily classroom duties.
  • Reports to the Program Director for all matters relating to terms of employment and center operations.

Qualifications

  • Complies with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Reports all suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).

Skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood education practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement lesson plans and IEPs.
  • Proficiency in record keeping and documentation.
  • Experience with classroom management and supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with parents and families.
