Teacher Assistant-Special Programs Success Coach
About the role
The special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEP's (Individualized Education Programs) by assisting the teacher in five areas of service; instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support and material management.
Responsibilities
The special education teacher assistant will work under the general supervision of the special education teacher, and may be required to perform tasks such as lifting, feeding programs, simple sign/signal communication, medical procedures to include but not limited to gastrostomy tube feeding, catheterization and diapering of adult size students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education and/or experience
- District in-service training (required after hiring)
- Basic knowledge of academic subjects
- Substitution or equivalent experience preferred
- The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test will be required for TITLE ONE SCHOOLS
Qualifications
The specific skills required of the assistant depend upon the assignment, the student's needs and IEP, and upon the established procedures of the supervising professional.
Pay
Salary Grade 8 - $22.03 per hour (Support Salary Table 2026-2027), with a minimum 5% increase for promotions
Schedule
5.9 hours per day, 174 days per year
